You may be interested to know that Grameen America, a U.S.-based microfinance institution under the Grameen umbrella, has made it to the final round of the Ideas for Change in America competition. Grameen has until March 12th to rally as many votes as possible to make it to the final 10 Ideas. The final 10 ideas will be presented to relevant members of the Obama Administration, and will also help microfinance gain the attention of the very large Change.Org community.

Safer sourcing of water also ensures there are no outbreaks when disaster strikes. I imagine the biggest benefit is an improvement in health because the poor often end up losing years of saving as a result of sudden illnesses.
